About the event

Celebrate SFWA's 25th anniversary with a family-friendly float on the South Fork of the Iowa River!

We will meet at Scott and Sheila Riggs'  farm on JJ Ave. Bus will depart at 9 a.m. to the launch site up river. Kayaks/canoes provided.

The float will last approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. We will end with lunch at the Riggs' place with a lunch speaker, Dr. Joe Otto, who will discuss his historical research on agricultural drainage in Iowa in the 1800's. Other educational activities are being arranged.

In the event of high or low river flow that prevents floating on the river, we will forego the float and just gather at the Riggs' from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for lunch, learning and fun beside the river.

FEATURED at this event will be a limited supply of special Southfork anniversary brew created by Timbukbru in Iowa Falls! The beer will be made with wild raspberries grown along the South Fork. Not into fruity beer? Not to worry, we will also have a mini-keg of one of Timbukbru's finest, along with non-alcoholic beverages. In order to enjoy the South Fork raspberry brew you must have been born before July 13, 2003 and provide an ID.
